Current plans for the $15 million project—that combines federal, state and city funds—were presented to some 60 community stakeholders at a meeting in February.
    The project aims to retrofit the bridges to withstand a 7.5 earthquake. Other improvements proposed will be an added center median and a safer pedestrian sidewalk on the Hyperion bridge’s north side and the widening of the Glendale Boulevard bridges in both directions.
    Increased traffic congestion and limited access during the construction phase was the overriding concern voiced by many at the February meeting.
