UPDATE: One Arrested in Los Home Feliz Robbery

(LOS FELIZ) One of two robbery suspects accused of targeting homes in the area today is in custody after the Los Angeles Police Dept. Northeast Division received tips leading to the suspect after a video was released showing the robbery.

Tanner Jacob Mitchell, 19, was arrested March 8th and booked on suspicion of robbery, according to the Los Angeles Police Dept. Mitchell is being held on $150,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom March 23rd.

Los Feliz Home RobberyPolice identified Mitchell’s alleged accomplice as 23-year-old Kevin Andrew Haney, who is described as white, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 200 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes. Haney, remains at large.

The two are accused of committing two burglaries on Feb. 9; The first at about 12:50 p.m. in the 3800 block of Amesbury Road.

“The suspects sat in their car in front of the residence for approximately 20 minutes and observed the patterns of the homeowners,” said LAPD. “Once the homeowner left the residence to walk her dog,
the suspects went up to the front door of the residence and opened the front door to commit a burglary.”

When the suspects heard people inside the home, they fled without taking anything, according to police, who say the pair “possibly cased the area two days prior to the incident.”

An hour after they left that home, according to police, they allegedly broke into a house in the 2500 block of Aberdeen Avenue and began ransacking it, but were confronted by an employee at the residence.

“The suspects ran from the home with the victims’ property,” police said. “During the encounter, one of the suspects was armed with a handgun and pointed it directly at the victim, dissuading her from chasing them.”

Surveillance video was circulated showing the suspects, whose getaway vehicle was described as a silver 2014-15 Kia Optima with no front license plate, generating leads from the public that helped detectives identify the pair.

Anyone with information on the outstanding suspect’s whereabouts was urged to call detectives at (323) 561-3324, or (877) LAPD-24-7.
