Silver Lake Neighborhood Council Announces New Rep
SILVER LAKE—Glenn Harrell, 47, was unanimously approved as the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council’s (SLNC) newest At-Large Board Representative in January.
A longtime stakeholder in the community, Harrell has been a resident of Silver Lake for the past 40 years and is the 17-year owner of Hyperion Avenue’s Say Cheese.
Harrell will represent all 47,000 residents and business owners in the neighborhood.
According to Harrell, he sees his new role as an opportunity to step out from behind the counter and further reach out to Silver Lake.
“I’ve been put in a position to do more and actually give back to the community,” he said. “I feel like, by being on the board, I’m going to be helping push the community in a forward direction and make it better.”
Harrell was first invited to attend a neighborhood council meeting in October 2015 by board member Anne-Marie Johnson, who suggested he run for the position once it opened up.
Harrell replaces former representative Amy Clark. However, his role on the board is temporary, lasting only until the SLNC’s elections May 14th.
According to Harrell, however, he plans on filing for candidacy for the seat in the election.
